Beware: Pay Per Post Blogs

The Chicago Tribune just posted this great article about sponsored blogs, a big trend in the beauty blogging world.

You can read a blog and not know that the product the editor is raving about is in fact something she was paid to write about. I often receive emails asking how much I’d charge to get a particular product onto my site with a glowing review attached, to which I never respond.

My reviews are 100% my own. I take seriously the fact that when you read about something you like on HOB, you most likely purchase it. It’s outright deceptive to post a commercial cleverly disguised as opinion, potentially leading to women wasting their money- which is why my opinions aren’t for sale.
