June Jacobs

June Jacobs is a 30-year veteran of the spa industry and a visionary in the field of hi-tech skin luxury. She has created around 100 products for skin and body using high-potency hydrosols (essential oils distilled from plant matter), powerful antioxidants, and plant extracts without the use of parabens, harsh preservatives, synthetic dyes, or sulfates.  Her opulent line is used in the most prestigious spas worldwide,  and also offered online for an unparalleled at-home spa experience.

I first noticed the product’s packaging which gives an immediate feeling of relaxation with its charming frosted glass jars, metallic tin lids, and sculpted bottles- even the logo and writing on the containers are neatly arranged and printed. Visually speaking, it’s a line you can’t wait to delve into right away.

Inside of those containers her products are rich in antioxidants, many from food-based sources like cucumber, green tea, grapefruit, lemon, and cranberry, and everything smells like heaven. Her version of what cranberry smells like trumps the actual fruit itself. Her Creamy Cranberry Cleanser and Cranberry Pomegranate Moisture Masque maintain a balanced sweet scent that isn’t too over the top while completely quenching thirsty skin.

Also worth trying is the Lemon Sugar Body Polish that reminded me so strongly of lemon meringue pie that it literally made my mouth water.

Key Ingredient; Oatmeal

Oatmeal has long been associated with bringing down inflammation in the skin while gently exfoliating at the same time. It also has a great nutty, sweet (but not too sweet) scent that’s almost neutral.

Here are my 2 latest oatmeal-based favs.

St Ives discovered that shea butter is the perfect compliment to oatmeal both in scent and use for their Body Scrub. The oatmeal and sugar crystals buff away dead skin while the shea butter makes your skin so soft, you might not need lotion after the shower. Most addictive though is the scent that I can’t wait to use again and again.

St Ives Oatmeal & Shea Butter Body Polish

Oatifix mask from LUSH truly smells like breakfast. Almonds, bananas, vanilla, and oatmeal are used to calm and exfoliate sensitive skin while reducing redness. I love the thick texture which coats your skin completely and really brought my face back to its happy place when I over-did it with the Retin A.

Stop and Smell the Roses with; Weleda, The Body Shop, and Sanitas

I think it’s time to take a moment to stop and smell the roes, one of my favorite scents and best loved ingredients with benefits too vast to list. Here are a few products containing this flower of love that smell as great as they work.

Weleda slowly became an obsession, drawing me in with their slick natural-chic packaging, I’d pick something up every now and again shopping at Whole Foods and Vitamin Cottage and found their line to be consistently good. Some natural lines don’t pack a moisturizing punch, but their Wild Rose Night Cream nourishes skin overnight with intense moisture and organic rosehip seed oil giving it a beautifully light true rose scent and a visible radiance you’ll wake up loving.

Rose scented makeup might sound a little hokey, but the Roseflower line from The Body Shop has some real winners. First, their Radiance Stick is a fantastic highlighter for eyes, lips, cheeks, and declote since its non-greasy (almost powdery) formula gives it such versatility with a subtle rose scent. The blush and shadows (also scented) are velvety to the touch with pretty feminine colors and a generous amount of product in each clear (so you can see the rose imprint) compact.

Radiance Stick $11, Eye Colors $7

Sanitas Skincare’s Rose Facial Scrub combines tiny silica crystals (rounded so they don’t hurt the skin) inside of a thick, pink, rose scented creamy cleanser meant to soothe and sweep away dull skin. It’s gentle enough for most skin types and is one of the few exfoliants that doesn’t leave my skin the least bit red or irritated afterward.

Om Aroma and Co.

If you thought of beauty in terms of dessert (which isn’t that much of a stretch), then think of Om Aroma and Co. as a decadent chocolate soufflé where one bite isn’t enough.

Om’s Creme Eclat combines grapeseed oil with shea butter, chardonnay, and silk proteins into a base of organic oatmeal infusion for the richest most delicious body creme. Each jar is prepared by hand and filled with certified organic ingredients whipped into a texture that is dense in moisture, but light in feel- so it absorbs into the skin right away leaving a lasting softness and a beautifully light scent.

Champagne and grapeseeds work together with olive and jojoba oils to make Elixir de Beauté facial exfoliant. Micro-scopic powdered pearls give the face a fresh luminosity while sweeping away dulness and preparing the skin for its last course.

Body Scrubs; Erno Laszlo, Caudalîe, La Mer

Body exfoliator is something you’ll always find in my shower. Keeping your skin young isn’t restricted to your face, so sloughing off dead skin so the new, bright skin underneath can show is as important to your routine as anything else. Plus it’s a totally relaxing spa-like experience, especially if you’re using something fantastic.

Erno Laszlo’s Gentle Body Exfoliator smells divine. When I use it, I typically skip scented lotions or even fragrance just so I can enjoy the subtle scent of this fresh, almost citrusy scrub. The granules sit within a moisturizing cleanser that foams up and offers the ultimate in a close shaving experience.

Resveratrol, the super antioxidant found in the skins of grapes (i.e. red wine), is front and center of Caudalie’s patented skincare. Over time, it’s believed that resveratrol can help with signs of aging and radiance. Their Crushed Cabernet Scrub is super dense and gives exfoliation that’s completely decadent, which is why it’s the signature scrub at their spa. Crushed grape seeds and brown sugar blended with honey make for a deep exfoliation experience while the juniper, lemongrass, and rosemary essential oils add a scent that’s both spicy and exhilarating.

7.8oz $35 Caudalie.com, Beauty.com, Sephora

Diamonds are a body’s best friend since The Body Refiner from La Mer contains over 1.5 karats in diamond powder combined with La Mer’s legendary ingredients to polish and buff your body in a way that only La Mer can. Sensitized and delicate skin won’t be overwhelmed by this gentle exfoliation, and you’ll enjoy seeing the shimmery diamonds on your skin as much as the smooth as glass feeling it leaves behind.

The Lip Scrub by Sarah Happ

The Lip Scrub from Sarah Happ is every bit as good as you’ve read. This generously sized lip exfoliant made from brown sugar is as sweetly packaged as it is flavored.

What I thought would first be a gift, quickly turned into a how-could-I-live-without-it for my kit to banish chapped lips on women so lip color lasts. Once I tried it, there was no doubt that it was all mine and only mine.

Since it does exfoliate lips, the sugar granules are densely mixed within petroleum (think Vaseline consistency) so the delicate skin benefits, but isn’t scratched or uncomfortable. You’ll notice longer periods of time will pass without applying lip balms or glosses because your lips will feel moisturized on their own.

With thoughtful packaging on the outside and a product for everyone on the inside, this is a perfect gift for the beauty obsessed and novice alike.
