Good Day Colorado Appearance Live From NYC Fashion Week

Yes, this is from February 09′ when I headed to New York to see the shows. I’ve posted a ton about fashion week while I was there, but this video seemed to slip through the cracks and never was posted.

This segment was live from the Fox studios in Rockefeller Center right in the heart of NYC where I was sitting in the middle of their newsroom for a segment that aired here for Fox 31 Denver.

Lela Rose was the show I’d gone to the day prior when I arrived which was great because I got to show Stila’s exclusive kit that I picked up backstage. They retail these limited edition kits after Fashion Week that contain every essential needed to re-create the runway look that the pros were using on all of the models.

The Return of Eye Shadow at Derek Lam by NARS

Remember when I said eyeshadow was back in a big way? Here’s further proof taken backstage at the Derek Lam show at Fashion Week New York. NARS provided a step by step recipe should you choose to re-create the color-rich look.

What do you think of fall’s latest shadowy trend?

Face:

· Blend NARS Sheer Glow Foundation with a foundation brush into skin

· Set with NARS Loose Powder

· Buff skin with NARS Kabuki Artisan Boton Brush for a porcelain doll effect

Eyes:

· Using the emerald side of NARS Misfit Duo Eyeshadow and NARS Eye Shader brush, drag the shadow along the lower lash line straight across until just past the outer corner

· Dust the violet side of NARS Jolie Poupee Duo Eyeshadow on the eyelids; use the darker side in the crease and fade into the temple joining the emerald green from Misfit

· Highlight the inner corners of the eyes with NARS Bains Douche Glitter Pencil (NEW for Spring 2010), making the connection between the purple and green

· After curling lashes with NARS Eyelash Curler, apply three coats of NARS Larger Than Life Volumizing Mascara on the top and bottom lashes

· Dust the burnt orange side of NARS Mediteranee Duo Eyeshadow along the brow bone

Lips:

· Fill in the lips lightly with NARS Red Square Velvet Matte Lip Pencil, dotting the lips with your fingers to blend it in

· Outline the lips with NARS Easy Lover Lip Gloss (NEW for Spring 2010) to create a plush-looking, glassy pout

Cheeks:

· Apply NARS Nico Blush to give a subtle hint of highlighting

· Dust Desire Blush in round, circular movements onto the apples of the cheeks

· Finish with NARS Taj Mahal Blush, blending it in with the pink cheeks and up towards the temples

Backstage at Thakoon Fall 09′ NY Fashion Week with CND

Creative Nail Design, now known simply as CND, was everywhere at fashion week completing high-fashion looks with high-drama nails.

Their Thakoon look was my favorite, inspired by the 1930′s when ladies wore reverse french manicures in muted tones, this 3-D look was custom blended for maximum contrast to complete the spring collection.

Wanda Ruiz, an International Educational Investor for CND gave me the skinny on the look itself, and how women can take inspiration from the look into their own spring nail fashion.

Hot Pop Yellow, Cocoa, and Serenity were coustom blended to make the perfect muted-but-still-there shade for the reverse french manicure. Voodoo (one of my favs) was the deep tone throughout the nail. Nail extensions were perfectly rounded out into an almond shape, and although the look was exaggerated for the runway, Ruiz encouraged woman to file into a more flattering rounded shape instead of the squarish shape women tend to favor. Matching the shape of your nail to the shape of
your cuticle is a great rule of thumb.

She also encouraged women to be bold in their color selection, especially for spring.

Star Moments at Fashion Week

Kristen Bell, tiny and so sweet.

Amanda Bynes

Nigel Barker- so handsome and tall.

Say what you will about her, but when Paris Hilton whirls past you on her way to her seat (Pamella Roland), it’s exciting.

Me with the completely adorable Robert Verdi at his suite. He said Halle Berry was the most flawless of all the leading ladies. “Not a scratch or a dent on her, she’s showroom perfect.”

Jennifer Love Hewitt.

Kellie Pickler was so nice. I just missed her posing for photos, but asked her for one more and she was very sweet and accommodating.
