When I asked Osmia Organics’ founder Sarah Villafranco for a haircare line recommendation, I knew it would be something I would love. She said she was really into Just Nutritive, a small line that’s clean, transparent, and effective with zero bells and whistles. I wasn’t really sure about it when I saw the packaging, but it has turned out to be maybe my most purchased line ever. They have sales and coupons they email out all the time, and right now everything is 20% off when you use the code SUMMERON20 Since I’ve tried so many things from the line I thought I’d go over the highs and lows to help guide you a little when making a purchase. Bottom line, this is a line worth trying if you’re interested in a line that’s clean, innovative, and does what it claims.

With 800+ glowing reviews, this is one of the line’s most popular picks. I like it for the subtle scent and streak-free application. In a base of sweet almond, coconut, olive, and grape seed oils, it’s hydrating which means it gives a tan that isn’t scaly and dry. It’s so easy to slap on and forget about it. Even though I’m fair, I prefer the dark formula to get some good color and this produces a natural looking tan that isn’t orange or overboard. I use it twice a week in the morning. I’m not even particularly careful about the application knowing it will look heavier on my feet and ankles. When I shower that night, the heaviness seems to wash away and an even tan remains. It’s so easy to use and my fave over an $80 tanner I fell for last year that GP raved about. The bottle is a good sized one and will last more than a year.
This one is so amazing and does exactly what it says, immediately leaves hair so brilliant and shiny. It’s a spray mist of light oil that you use on your ends (it will make your scalp oily) for when you’re looking for photoshoot-quality hair. It gives such incredible shine, a little goes a really long way, and I love the fresh lemongrass scent. It’s so unique because typically shine like this only comes from a heavy serum. 3 sprays is all I need to boost shine all over so this big 8oz bottle will no doubt last a very long time.
Vinegar Nutritive Rinse Cleanser
This cleanser is great for a dry scalp, hair loss, thinning hair, or just product buildup. It has an aloe-like consistency that doesn’t foam up. They describe it as; ‘more than 30 of nature’s most awesome ingredients plus pure apple cider vinegar handmade fresh each day.’ I like that it cleanses my scalp and leaves it feeling clean. I don’t like how it doesn’t foam up so I often have to use it with a shampoo so I can maneuver my hands into my scalp to distribute it but my hair is VERY thick and coarse so this is something specific to my hair and may not apply to you. Not sure if it’s color-safe or not, but since I haven’t had my color done in 7 months, it’s the least of my worries.
Frizz Hair Shampoo & Conditioner
My kids’ curls require adult haircare. Frizz shampoo and conditioner are so conditioning and silicone free so they keep hair light and really soft. They have macadamia nut, cranberry seed, and coconut oil along with aloe and essentials that give the line a natural and neutral scent that smells fresh and not heavy. Their shampoo and conditioners are twice as large as others at 16oz so they last a long time. I like both the frizz and Extremely Dry, but would go for the Extremely Dry combo if I had to choose between the two.
Extremely Dry Shampoo & Conditioner
Extremely Dry Shampoo & Conditioner are my fave. The shampoo has Aloe, Almond Oil, Daikon Radish Seed Oil, along with a long list of fruit, flower, and other oils and essentials. It has great lather and softens hair leaving it feeling great. This is what I use mostly on the girls to tame their curls and frizz. It softens so well that detangling and brushing are much easier and their hair looks much less frizzy. Like with the rest of the line, the big 16oz bottle lasts a long time.
This was another popular one on their site that comes in a tub so large it took us months to get through it. I divided it among the girls so they could all use it post shower as well as to style their hair in the mornings. I spray their hair at the roots, then add this for perfect ponytails that would keep little flyaways back without feeling crackly or greasy. We use a good amount of it post-shower to keep curls soft and it never looks greasy to heavy. It works in all 4 of our hair (hairs?😂) which vary in texture. If you’re looking at the ingredient list for any of their products you’ll see that natural doesn’t always mean simple, this one has 26 ingredients that read like a recipe. It’s one of then cleanest formulations I’ve found and a great leave-in if your hair requires some frizz-fighting.
Silicone free detannglers are hard to come by. It’s an easy way to cut through tangles quickly but coats your hair using a plastic so any alternative is good. This one worked on Everly’s hair which is the least coarse of us 4, but wasn’t powerful enough to do much for the rest of us. If you want something light and natural it’s a good bet but if you have thick hair I’d skip it.
This silicone-free hair oil missed the mark for me. I LOVE a hair serum and typically use one wet and dry, but this felt heavy and had a sort of hippie smell. It also coated without smoothing and was heavy. Keep in mind my hair is coarse and thick so if your hair was on the thin side it would feel even heavier. It might work better for a body oil, but for the hair, the feel and performance isn’t as elegant or effective as I’d like.
I just ordered their Body Nutritive System– with 671 reviews it’s a skin treatment that moisturizes and gets skin glowing, Dry Hair Lotion, and Herbal Gel for Curly Hair to see if we can get better curl definition using something with more hold. Next time I’ll pick up their Pet Shampoo.
