I’m always excited for my Beauty Heroes box each month, but I was a little like ‘oh, another serum’ which seems to be their thing. I get it- everyone loves a serum but dang- I only have one face. How soft can it get? Luckily this is not just a serum, it’s a brightening treatment which I need like nobody’s biz. Scaring and pigment are my biggest issues right now and I’m hoping this Facial Serum does the trick. Laurel’s formulations are made using organic, whole plants without fillers, waxes, preservatives, or even water. They’re known for their highly potent skincare that doesn’t use extracts – so you won’t see single ingredients like Vitamin C or Hyaluronic Acid on their labels because all of those vitamins, peptides, and enzymes are present in whole plants and flowers without using chemical extraction methods (common) to remove them from the plants before putting them back in again.
I haven’t started the serum yet (which I plan to apply after rolling), but I have used the Honey Berry Enzyme Mask a few times. It’s made with only honey, royal jelly, and fruit- just 5 ingredients but filled with vitamins and nutrients that moisturize and brighten instantly. I just finished Leahlani’s version which I’d often use in the morning for 10 minutes or so just to give my skin some life. It made me realize that I don’t need a heavy clay mask every single time and this easy treatment was so gentle that I thought of it like a morning smoothie for my skin.
Their Before and After Sun Body Oil is pretty amazing too, but I’m really into body oils these days. I just feel like- why shouldn’t my body get the same VIP treatment as my face does? I’m too old to just slap on some Jergens and call it good. It’s pricey, but it’s awesome and it might just be worth it since it can help prevent damage from the sun naturally without using zinc or traditional sunscreen. It doesn’t replace your SPF, but it can block some rays and also heal inflamed skin keeping it looking fresh and glowy.
