Nars created so many looks for so many shows that I couldn’t post them all, but I’ve collected my favorite ones to check out along with what was used and where to find it.
Show: Honor
Lead Artist: James Boehmer
Look: The look is reminiscent of Penelope Tree, and Catherine Deneuve. The eyelashes are messy and drawn on, with a lot of mascara. Everything else is perfect – the skin is porcelain, and the lip color is like lips that have been bitten. The key to the look is really the lashes. When you think you’ve got enough mascara, add two more coats. – Boehmer
Face: Tinted Moisturizers – new for Spring 2012!
Eyes: Santa Monica Boulevard Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner
Rue Bonaparte Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner
Larger Than Life Volumizing Mascara
Larger Than Life Lengthening Mascara
Cheeks: Douceur Blush
Lips: Valparaiso Pure Matte Lipstick – new for spring 2012! (for now, try Terre de Feu Pure Matte Lipstick)
Some serious mascara action combined with drawn on lashes.
Show: Thakoon
Lead Artist: Diane Kendal
Look: “Because the collection is so colorful, I wanted to focus on a classic, strong brow. I kept the face natural, with a little pink on the cheek for healthy color. On the eyes, I focused on contouring to show strength and attitude, a cowboy attitude that is,” – Kendal.
Face: Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer – launching Spring 2012! For a similar affect try a light application of Sheer Glow Foundation
Cheeks: Zen Blush
Gaiety Blush – new for Spring 2012! For a similar affect try Desire Blush
Eyes: Bengali Eyeshadow
Lips: Belle de Jour Velvet Matte Lip Pencil
Nais: Versailles Nail Polish
I met Diane backstage at this very show when I covered NYFW and she was so cool. This was not the case for other artists as I quickly discovered.
These models walk in several fashion shows all day long during Fashion Week. I bet her hairstylist for her show after this one was pissed.
Show: Creatures of the Wind
Lead Artist: James Boehmer
Look: We didn’t want to see the makeup before seeing the clothes but still wanted a strong look,” said James Boehmer, NARS Director of Global Artistry. “It’s very chalky and very 90’s. To balance the chalkiness in the eyes, we gave a luminosity to the cheekbones. – Boehmer
