There was a time when I didn’t purchase any shadows that didn’t have a least a little shimmer to them, not so long ago matte shadows were viewed as making the eyes look drab and were notoriously hard to blend. The new matte shadows are full of pigment, easy to blend and easy to wear.
I always grab one for a more mature eye where shimmer might not be appropriate and can accentuate and settle into fine lines, it’s also (in my opinion) better for work-wear since it looks more polished and professional than some shimmery shadows can be. Here are a few that I own and love.
Laura Geller’s Sugar Free Baked Matte Eye Shadow in Pink Souffle/ Plum Tart is unexpectedly understated and springy with a combo of pink and plum.
Jane Iredale’s new triple shadow in Sweet Spot includes perfect shades of bone, peach and brown.
Biscotti/ Toast is the other duo in the Laura Geller Baked collection that features two shades of rich brown, the lighter of the two is a perfect all over color for darker skin tones.
