I’ve mentioned before that Pit Putty from Bubble & Bee was the first natural deodorant I found that worked really well and I used it for years until finding Schmidt’s last summer. I recently saw that B&B makes a cream version now which I wanted to try since I always thought the stick should actually be in a jar because of how it crumbled so easily and needed to be rubbed in anyway.
Pit Putty Cream (in the Geranium Line scent which is fresh and light) is so easy to apply, it glides right into the skin just like a regular body cream would. It doesn’t have that slightly dry, crumbly texture to it like Schmidt’s does so it’s much easier to use, but I found that it’s still less effective than Schmidt’s which seems to absorb wetness better. Both come in the same size jar for roughly the same price, but Pit Putty is USDA organic while Schmidt’s (who uses all natural non-toxic ingredients) is not. Ranking the three, I’d say that Schmidt’s works the best, then the Pit Putty stick, with the cream version doing slightly less well than the others. That said, Schmidt’s and B&B make the best non-toxic deodorants I’ve used so chances are any of those would be a great option.
Along with the Pit Putty, I got their Lime Organic Shower Gel which has been a long-time favorite of mine because just a little bit yields tons of foam, and it always had a zesty citrus scent that I loved. While the foamy part of that is still true, I don’t know what happened to the once subtle lime scent. They must have changed it since my last order because now it reminds me of a weird manufactured citrus scent reminiscent of Pine-Sol. It’s so not what I think of when I think about fresh lime, it will be hard to get through using the whole bottle.
On the bright side, their Root Beer lip balm was still the same. If you loved Dr. Pepper Lip Smacker when you were young (and who didn’t?), you’ll love this almost drinkable lip conditioner that smells and tastes exactly like root beer. I got an unscented balm too and for whatever strange reason it isn’t as moisturizing as the root beer so grab a flavored one (the Karma Apple and Peppermint Cocoa are yummy too), and see why these are among my very fave organic lip balms.
My only regret is not grabbing a bigger size of the Body Butta which has a consistency that’s so completely unique using the best oils and butters for your skin. They use coconut meat which helps to give it a more hearty texture that’s slightly grainy, almost like a heavy buttercream icing that completely melts into your skin the moment you rub it in. The Coconut Lime scent is sweet and tangy but light enough to dissipate once it’s all rubbed in. This is probably the thing they do best punctuated by the fact that they offer little sample sizes to try before making a full purchase.
I’ve found that most stores that carry B&B have a very limited stock usually consisting of only Pit Putty but you can check HERE to see if a store nearby carries the line. Otherwise, their site is the way to go.
