I’m such a sucker for packaging, which is why I never stopped to take a look at DeVita. The dark plum bottles never spoke to me the same way the brightly packaged neighboring tubes did, so it’s a good thing I kept seeing post after post on Instagram from people loving how effective the line is which was ultimately why I decided to try it.
All of the line is vegan and paraben, gluten, and GMO free using natural actives and with safe ratings on the Think Dirty app (which you should download if you haven’t already.)
A daily antioxidant serum is a total must-have for everyone and Vitamin C is the most powerful of the bunch to protect skin from environmental damage as well as brighten and soften. There’s a lot of cheap crap out there labeled ‘Vitamin C’ that has very little of it in there and just smells like oranges, so finding a good one is a challenge. Their 17% C Serum is in a base of organic aloe and green tea to soothe the skin which is good because when you apply it you feel that little tingle that tells you it’s working. Seriously, I have this addiction to needing to feel something happening when it comes to skincare in order to feel like it’s working. At $35 it was higher priced than a lot of Whole Foods lines, but still less than the $120 c serums I’ve been known to buy.
I’ve been weening myself off my my old friend Aqua Glycolic which I’ve used on and off for the better part of almost 20 years. (I erased that and then re-wrote it because it made me sound old, then decided that I don’t care. That type of honesty only comes with age.) Although I loved how my skin would look and feel, it has parabens, PEG’s, and formaldehyde releasers. I want the benefits of glycolic which is an awesome ingredient without all the stuff in it that didn’t benefit my skin at all. Glycolic minimizes pores and dark spots and speeds up cell turnover so your skin feels so soft and smooth and looks brighter. I love their High Performance Glycolic Acid Blend because you can see that it’s working, I’d say after only a week of use you can tell a difference. I love it. It’s the best glycolic serum I’ve tried because it’s gentle enough that I don’t peel or flake, but effective enough to see improvements. It’s also mixed with lactic and maleic acids, which give an extra boost in skin retexturing than using glycolic alone. I love this serum. $33 well spent.
