4th of July weekend is my favorite of the summer, I’m (mostly) computer free and ready for some fun in the sun with friends. On July 3rd, Mike and I took my brother Chad and his adorable girlfriend Lori (who is visiting from Canada) up to Dillon to spend the day at their famed Tiki Bar where food comes in a basket and the drinks are rum-based. It’s mountains-meets-margaritaville in a laid back atmosphere that welcomes all and promises a good time.
We stopped along the side of the road to check out these buffalo on our drive up.
While cooling himself off in the dirt this guy kicked up a crazy dust storm that smelled exactly like zoo. This is also the exact moment we left.
The Tiki Bar is dog friendly, so while we waited for a spot I shot pics of this little guy sleeping on the table keeping a safe distance from the bigger dogs.
This is the best shot of the bar I had, there isn’t much to show because it’s literally a hut, bar and a few big tents next to the marina. Nothing fancy, but it’s one of the most fun day spots I’ve ever visited. There’s music playing and people of all ages just enjoying the day.
We sat right against the marina so we had a perfect view of the boats and the mountains.
Both sail and motor boats would cruise by, some would park and come in for a drink, others would just pass through.
I told you it was dog friendly right? This is Enzo, his mommy and daddy sat at the table next to us. He was so cute that Lori scooped up dirty little Enzo and put him in her lap where he stayed for a long time. He had just enjoyed some swimming with his big lab buddies so his paws were sandy and his fur was wet. She didn’t mind.
Here we are! It’s not easy to use a camera you aren’t familiar with, so the nice woman who took our pic got only half of us in the flash. That half was myself and Mike, my brother Chad and his girlfriend Lori are a little dimmed but look great nonetheless.
We stayed until they closed, which is sunset because there aren’t any lights in the tents.
If you’re ever in Colorado in the summertime, head to Dillon for a mountainside boat drink at the Tiki Bar. I can promise a fantastic time!
I LOVED this day :)…I had forgot about Enzo!!..
