You know that I’ve been trying to ‘green up’ my routine for a while, and makeup seems to be the most difficult part. As a Makeup Artist, I refuse to spend money on shadows that don’t show up on the skin, or disappear after a few hours. Mineral versions fit the bill in terms of clean formulations, but those pots are so messy and the ones I’ve bought always end up leaking somehow all over everything.
I saw this Lily Lolo Laid Bare palette all over IG for months before I finally bought it. It’s so sleek and cute with just the right amount of shadow in each pot and every color is a win. It’s $34, a steal for 8 wearable shades considering Bobbi’s similar palettes cost double. They use organic botanicals along with a mineral formula that’s Vegan Friendly, U.S.A. Made, GMO, Gluten, Preservative, and Fragrance Free so even if ‘natural’ isn’t your thing, it’s gentle for those with eyes that are easily irritated.
All of the shades show up awesome on the skin and are so velvety and soft and easy to blend. I use the first two for the lid and brow, the 3rd and 4th for a crease, and the darker 3 to line or for a drop shadow. I don’t wear a ton of gold tones, so I haven’t gotten to that guy yet. The sponge applicator is a complete throw away as they typically are. I wish companies would make a smaller palette or take the color down to the bottom instead of having that dumb brush in there taking up space for no reason.
I found this at a boutique here in Denver so it isn’t online only, but if there isn’t a store near you, they will refund unused product so you’ll have to decide at a glance if it’s for you or not. I wish they offered samples like Alima Pure which makes purchasing so much easier, but in terms of eco-friendly makeup that stacks up against luxury brands, I think they’re definitely worth a look.
