Face masks are such a thing right now that there’s even a #maskmonday on Instagram and the search for #mask yields over 3 million pics of (among other things) women in their bathrooms proudly sporting different colored concoctions on their faces. Myself included. I’m a sucker for this easy skin treatment because of how transformative it is. After just 20 minutes you can see that your face looks more healthy, glowing, and even. It’s a great way to clear your pores of junk and it’s also really addictive.
I’ll do a mask about once a week, this one being my favorite- Aztec Secret which is pure bentonite clay powder that I mix with a capsule of pure activated charcoal and a little water. It’s the most effective for pulling everything out of my pores, tightening, and making my skin really soft. It’s also a mess so I do it pre-shower so I don’t get black all over my sink.
While I’m always faithful to my face mask ritual, in recent years I’ve forgotten about the other important mask I’d do at the same time- one for my hair. I mean, it’s not any more time consuming especially if I’m jumping in the shower anyway (or just leave it on overnight for added moisture.) I was reminded how much my hair loved a good mask recently when Briogeo sent over their Don’t Dispair, Repair deep conditioner. It’s paraben, sulfate, silicone, and artificial fragrance free packaged in recycled bottles. It’s ultra hydrating without being heavy greasy so not only do I use it for a mask, I also use it post-shampoo on my ends. It’s an interesting chameleon that can can never be too heavy, it conditions only as much as you need it to. My hair looks bouncy and shiny after I use it, not to mention how easy it is to comb through after and style.
Don’t forget to add a hair treatment to your next mask night, you’ll see it makes all the difference.
