Sometimes the best things are stumbled upon by accident like these two little bottles that I swear have kept Mike and I well throughout this crazy winter when everyone has been constantly sick. I had the start of a sniffle when I was shopping at Vitamin Cottage last fall and the woman checking my groceries stopped mid-way through and took me back by the vitamins to grab one of the few bottles of Kick Ass Immune they had left and some Sambucus. I wanted to buy neither but it would’ve been awkward to refuse because she went out of her way to help and she was so passionate about the duo. She told me that Wish Garden, a Colorado company, concocted this amazing herb mixture that literally stops a cold in its tracks and that they order a ton and can’t keep it on the shelves because it sells out so fast. She also said to take a teaspoon of Sambucus Syrup daily to strengthen my immune system (there’s a version for kids too) which is made of a berry and tastes a little like cherry juice.
When I got home I researched them both online and then made Mike drink them just to make sure it wasn’t poisonous or whatever, then I eventually drank it too. I mixed both into a shot of OJ and went for it. The KAI has a weird taste that’s slightly smokey which is hard to explain but it isn’t bitter or pungent and Mike takes it straight from the dropper without juice so it can’t be terrible (I’m just a baby about taking stuff like this.)
Having such low expectations probably helped, but I was so blown away. I start to take the KAI whenever I feel my throat become sore it will either stop it, or lessen the severity a crazy amount to where I barely feel sick. I take 2 droppers every 2 hours the first day I’m not feeling well, and then space it out a little more the next day. We take the Sambucus once a day, everyday like a vitamin. I don’t know anything about herbs or holistic medicine and I never would’ve picked this up on my own but this here is our 5th bottle. It’s something we’ll always have around and you should too.
