A hero for your skin has arrived. Beauty Heroes is a completely new kind of subscription service and the only to ever earn my money. Instead of a box filled with a hodge podge of samples, each month you get a full size product and an additional ‘surprise’ of healthy beauty (which can be face, body, hair, or beauty) especially picked based on safety, efficacy, and luxury. Several months passed as they selected things I wanted to try and finally for May they announced their partnership with Mahalo and that was the end of it- I had to jump on board.
The Balm:
Right away, the feel of this heavy bamboo jar totally had me, it’s one of those lines that just feels special and has you excited to use it. I’ve wanted to try The Rare Indigo Beauty Balm for the longest time. I use the enclosed spatula to scrape away a tiny amount then I rub it between my fingers to let the warmth melt it down, before pressing it into my skin. Angels sing, the sun’s rays shine, flowers bloom, and my hair becomes naturally blonde. Seriously, this stuff could cure all of the world’s problems. It’s hydration without grease and nutrient-dense with vitamin c, antioxidants, and fatty-acids. It also heals inflammation using the rare blue indigo plant which gives it that incredible violet hue. It doesn’t break out my notoriously finicky skin but it does leave it soft and happy. I can talk about this balm forever, but I’ll move on to the Petal Mask (which was a sample sized ‘surprise’) that I’m almost out of because it’s the only mask I’ve been using lately. It’s a honey, rose, and clay base with other essentials and vitamins that delivers gentle exfoliation and nourishment for an immediate glow. These two are gateway drugs to the rest of the line because now I’m totally eying this serum that has Tamanu Oil as it’s first ingredient which is one of the most healing and regenerating oils around. Soon my bathroom will be filled with these bamboo jars, just a hunch.
The Cost:
I opted for the 3 month option which breaks down to $38 a month, a huge bargain considering the balm costs $110 and the mask’s value was $15. Each month’s overall value varies, but it’s never less than $60. You also get 15% off of every item in their store (which includes that serum!!) when you’re a member so that’s a huge bonus for these boutique lines that rarely go on sale.
The Rest:

You can request a pocket guide of those nasty ingredients to have on hand to make sure they don’t sneak into your routine. Their breakdown of ingredients is among the most concise and easiest to understand, so if your head spins just thinking about what you should or shouldn’t be using, this is for you.
